The Climate of Love Project

Few now deny climate change threatens all life on earth, including humanity. Scientific and political language can make it difficult to engage with this incredible problem but we all know we have fallen out of balance with our essential habitat – and with each other.

The Climate of Love Collective is a new online arts platform in-development for artists to show their creative responses to climate change.  The hope is to connect more people with the deeper causes of this emergency – maybe music and art can help to re-unite us in the same harmonious way our environment has always done.

Whatever the situation, every one of us needs first to re-connect at these deeper, shared levels – then act from these places in our hearts. The Climate Of Love album by Jackson Damian launched the collective and we have now invited first submissions from artists for the gallery

    Butterfly

    (Jackson Damian)

Is there such a time as now?
The young man wonders as he wonders how
To find his pace in the rhythm of life
To find his place to find a wife

Is there such a time as when
I will know that I’ve arrived?
Or will the present be mine only
On that day I’ve lived and died?

Will I get to be that butterfly?
Will I get to know the reason why?
These fools prosper while they crucify
And the innocent die, they die

Was there such a time as then
A time I stood with other men?
The old man asks, now they’ve all gone
Were we as nothing were we wrong?

Is there such a time as when
I will know that I’ve arrived?
Or will the present be mine only
On that day I’ve lived and died?

Will I get to be that butterfly?
Will I get to know the reason why?
These fools prosper while they crucify
And the innocent die, they die

Is it all more than strong beats weak?
You can ask me as you hide and you seek
An identity free of another’s gaze
A world beyond a sexual cage

And if you need my shoulder cos you wanna cry
It must be you see clearly so you’re terrified
But I don’t know if you get to be that butterfly
    Or stay mystified, mystified

    Run

     (Jackson Damian)

Turn off the voice inside your head
    Listen to something kind instead
    And be free
Cos we ain’t got long till we’re here no more
Weak or strong baby rich or poor
    So be free

Cos this world is nearly done
This human race is nearly run
God gave us Buddha and his only son
But we never listen we only

    Run

Our heads are too small for this to make sense
We’re on an infinite highway to our bitter ends
    So be free
There’s no point now in any barricade
No need to fight our bed is made
    So be free

Cos this world is nearly done
This human race is nearly run
God gave us Buddha and his only son
But we never listen we only

    Run

Take some time to look around
Feel your bare feet on the ground
Listen to the birds while we still can
Hold a flower in your hand
Turn off the voice inside your head
    Listen to something kind instead
    And be free

    All God Is

    (Jackson Damian)

    We’re going through the motion
    We lost our magic potion
    We got no more devotion
We’re just staring – at the ocean
    We used to understand
We knew the stars we loved the land
    Somewhere the way was lost
We paid the price we count the cost

We turn to face a burning sun
Turn to see what we have done
Curse the sky the burning trees
Curse the wind the raging seas

    We’ve fallen into line
    We lost our moonshine
We just woke up to find
    We’re blind, And so unkind
Always so sure of wrong and right
All we learnt was how to fight
We see we wasted all the light
We turn to face an endless night

We turn to face a burning sun
Turn to see what we have done
Curse the sky the burning trees
Curse the wind the raging seas

And we wonder is there a God above
And we wonder did we praise him enough
But we forgot, all God is – is love
All god is – is love

    We stare out into space
No sense of our time and place,
Soon we’ll be gone without a trace
    The waste, We cannot face
Others they fight and they deny
The truth that’s falling from the sky
No-one will be left to ask why
No-one to live no-one to die

No-one to face a burning sun
Turn to see what we have done
Curse the sky the burning trees
Curse the wind the raging seas

We were told a thousand times
We just laughed and drank our wine
Told our children they’d be fine,
The crime, End of our line

And our old myths they’re coming true
They’re coming fast for me and you
In our dreams yeah we all knew
Now there’s nothing we can do

But turn to face a burning sun
Turn to see what we have done
Curse the sky the burning trees
Curse the wind the raging seas

And we wonder is there a God above
And we wonder did we praise him enough
But we forgot, all God is – is love,
All god is – is love

    Empty Words

    (Jackson Damian)

    The lost birds
    Don’t know the empty words
    Of the human song
    The lost birds
    Don’t know the empty words
That lead them so far wrong

    Faster than expected
    Faster than expected

    Their cries go unheard
    Our pride is so absurd
    In our human song
We’ll get we what we deserve
    For all the empty words
    Of our human song

    Faster than expected
    Faster than expected

Where will the last birds fly
    After the last sky?
Where will the last birds fly
    After the last sky?

    Yeah we know
    The empty words
    Of the human song

    Faster than expected
    Faster than expected

    Locked Down

    (Jackson Damian)

I never feel I’m where I should be
Feel I always should be somewhere else
I take what I can give only what I don’t need
Living as a shadow of my true self
I lost my connection, got no sense of direction
    I’m locked down

I’ve forgotten how to live, forgot why to give
Lost my sense of wrong and right
I lost my respect for the good things we’re born with
    Another day becomes a night
    ‘Cos I lost my connection
    Got no sense of direction
    I’m locked down

And in between the silence the sirens
Tell me I was like this all along
In between the silence the sirens
Make me swear next time I will be strong
Make me swear next time I won’t go wrong

I lost all natural rhythm I’m afraid of the dark
Forgot how to let things be
Why does it take so much suffering to open my heart?
Just to get me to see
That I lost all connection, got no sense of direction
    I’m locked down

And in between the silence the sirens
Tell me I was like this all along
In between the silence the sirens
Make me swear next time I will be strong
Make me swear next time I won’t go wrong

    The Donkey

    (Jackson Damian)

There’s a donkey eating grass in a backyard in my head
How I love my little donkey he’s not alive and he’s not dead

No you can never know what it all means
These are only clues these other ways of being
Hidden among leaves the quiet wind blows
What will happen next heaven only knows

But I see you in your secret world
    Where no-one comes close
And you feel safe as an overdose
I hope you don’t mind that I can see
And I wonder if there’s space for me

Cos I know when you look out from the light in your soul
You see how much the darkness is in control
And you feel so bad for the millions of others
Who cannot see the lights of the angels
In the homes of the free

And still my donkey’s eating grass in a backyard in my head
How I love my little donkey he’s not alive and he’s not dead

Yeah, sometimes you stop you just look around
You see so clearly you hear every sound
And you’re never sure if you’re breaking through
    Or you’re breaking down

So I want you to use me as your stepping-stone
And find your way home to where
    God’s light shines
Infinitely kind from deep inside you in orange and blue
And red and gold from your precious soul

And, be happy, whatever you do, don’t let the ignorant
Get all the way through to you.

    Let it go

    (Jackson Damian)

I know you think it’s who you are
I know you feel empty without it
I know you feel weightless in the light am
Without the darkness you don’t feel right

And I know what it is to hide away
To protect yourself from what you’re sure they’ll say
If they find the truth about your inner life
If they tear down the walls and they see your lies

But you’re wrong my friend they already know
They can see the light you already show
You just have to come out from way down below
And let the darkness go, let it go

I know you feel safe out there on the road
You say it’s the way the river flows
When it doesn’t matter the days of the week,
Or this or that place or the people you meet

Or the women that smile or the men that talk
Who want you to stay if for once you don’t walk
If you forget the past get it out of your head
If you live in the present they’ll bring you back from the dead

I know you never learnt how to love
I know they never showed you
I know you learnt not to believe in yourself
I know they never told you

I know you feel that you’re not the same
And you don’t think you got a stake in the game
But you paid your dues, so much good is in you
You can open your heart now they’re ready for you

    2OfMe

    (Jackson Damian)

Well I’m not the same inside as out
I may look confident but in my heart it’s all doubt
I took the red pill and the blue pill together
So I know we’re all gonna die but life is forever

Cos there’s no one in charge, we’re out of control, just
Connected by our destiny and the gold in every soul

I’m listening to you tell me about things that seem real
But knowing what I know now I just cannot feel
It’s like looking through glass, watching it all on TV
The voices they echo, well are you talking to me?

Cos there’s no one in charge, we’re out of control, just
Connected by our destiny and the gold in every soul

So there’s two of me, maybe three,
There’s two of me, I know you can’t see

I let myself get angry just to feel my blood flow
I wanna reach out and touch someone but I don’t want her to know
I’m on the red pill and the blue pill and every drug they ever made
I see everything so clearly, see all our hopes fade

Cos there’s no one in charge, we’re out of control, just
Connected by our destiny and the gold in every soul

Oooh – oooh I’m floating free, both of me, floating free, maybe three

I’m outside looking in feels like I always have been
My mind is free-falling, slow motion tail spin
Well I could try to persuade you but that’s just dumb
Cos there’s no way back to where we came from

Yeah there’s no one in charge, we’re out of control, just
Connected by our destiny and the gold in every soul

    Complete

    (Jackson Damian)

We destroyed so much we called it growth
We used up the thing we needed most
But we still can’t get no satisfaction
    From all this soulless transaction
We only want more and more distraction
From the hunger we create on the inside the
Black holes a thousand miles wide

Some found the way out, knew real peace
But most of us declined this release
We made living hard, killing easy
We put a price on love it got sleazy
We’re leaving half-way through our own movie
The film will still run but we won’t know the end we’re Out of time to change this my friend

But it doesn’t matter when you die but how
It doesn’t matter how long you live only how much you give
And how much light is in your heart
So God can see you in the dark
So you don’t have to walk alone
And God can see to guide you home

The universe won’t be silent of course it never will
But this was the only way it could get us to be still
We’ll look for someone to blame, a battle to fight
Someone bad to make us feel good and right
But the answers we needed were on the inside
While the stories we told got so far out that We will believe anything now

We would have been a disaster if we made it out of here
We’re far too dangerous we had to disappear
Obsessed by ideas of land and nation
Now all that unites us is our isolation
We took God out of hearts put him in the sky above
We never learnt you can’t buy love or another man you Can’t buy anything that’s really worth a damn

We dream of a way back forget where we from
Forget to take is weakness only giving can be strong
Smashed the mirror of nature our true reflection
In the thousand fragments lost our direction
Lost the truth in our hearts God’s perfection
See nothing more was needed nothing less as we
Fall to our knees and confess

We turn to our leaders they’ve no more lies to tell
We can’t blame them we asked them for this hell
We turn to Mother Earth too late for her to care
We stare at each other we’re in the same nightmare
And understand at last we always shared
We were always one but it took our final defeat it
Took this to make us complete

But it doesn’t matter when you die but how
It doesn’t matter how long you live only how much you give
And how much light is in your heart
So God can see you in the dark
So you don’t have to walk alone
And God can see to guide you home

We forgot the miracle of our connection
    to every amazing thing alive
We forgot without the forest or the sea
    no human village can survive
We lost the sensation of creation
The truth all around us and beneath our feet was
All we ever needed to be complete

    Divine

    (Jackson Damian)

    It’s time, it’s time to…

Tell the ones that you love
    That you love them still
Tell the ones that you love
    That you always will
And look strangers in the eye
    Trust without a doubt
Give your heart up to the sky
    Push all the anger out
And all the bad you ever did
And what was done to you
And give with everything you got
Give with all of you – because it’s time, yeah it’s time…

    To be divine
    It’s time to…

    Forgive every wrong you see
    Forgive yourself be free
Not to fight but stand in front
Of those who are in need
And when the angry cut you down
    Turn the other cheek
Forgive them as they kick you
Forgive them as you bleed and
Forget your pride, forget your self
And all you fought to be
    Feel only love for everything
The ugly and the free – because it’s time…

    To be divine
    It’s time to…

Stop being like you’re someone else
    Something that you’re not
Play the role of your own soul
With all the time you’ve got
    Face the consequences
    Of living in the dark
    Take down all the fences
    That keep us all apart
To find we’re in the garden
    To find we never left
To understand we’re God’s right hand
To know with every breath – that it’s time…

    To be divine
